Bilkent University uses ECTS credits in parallel with its own credit system. These are based on learning outcomes and student workloads as well as contact hours. Credits earned abroad are fully recognized and transferred. Credit transfer/recognition is an automatic process which doesn't require student initiation or follow-up.
The transcripts issued by host universities are processed by the Departmental Exchange Coordinators and the transferred and exempted courses for each student is approved by Faculty Executive Boards.
The credits and grades earned abroad and the exempted Bilkent courses are shown on the students' transcripts and their diploma supplements.
Outgoing students are required to fill out the pre approval form and take the approval from their departmental exchange coordinators before they leave for their exchange period.
