Famous Speeches
Skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing
Task:
1. Find two famous speeches, one of the British and the other of American origin. Download them and save them on a CD.
2. Write the transcript of each speech. And answer the following questions:
A) Who made the speech?
B) When was the speech made?
C) What was the occasion?
D) What is the main idea of the speech?
3. Find a famous speech made by a Tukish person (for example, address to the Turkish youth by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk). Write its transcript. Translate its first paragraph ito English and record it.
4. Submit the project as described below:
a) in a separate file with a cover page

Newspapers

Task:
1. Compare and contrast 2 newspapers, one in English and the other in Turkish. Pay special attention to:

c) Its parts
2. Summarize two articles.
3. Answer the following questions:
a) Why were the articles written?
b) Who is the author?

Task: Compare two pieces of literature on the same subject, e.g. a story about a ghost and a play or a poem about a ghost. In your compositions you should:

· compare the length and organization of each
· discuss which one you preferred and why

Songs

Task: Compare 2 Turkish and 2 English songs in terms of
· the vocabulary used (adjectives, nouns, etc.)

· the length and the target audience of the songs

Literature

Task: Research an English author. Read two books by the author. In your project include
· information about the author (this MUST be in your own words and not copied from the Internet)

School Sitcom

Task:
1. Write a summary of a sitcom for TV about ÖBİ. Describe the plot and the main characters.
2. Write the summary of each episode (total: 6)
3. Write the script of one episode.
4. Act the episode during Arts Night.
