Sea cargo traffic by containers continues to grow and is about 200 million TEUs
(twenty-foot equivalent units) a year in 2001.
Container terminal acts as an important node in the sea cargo logistics,
received lots of attention from researchers recently years.
Efficient operation of a container terminal involves making many resource
allocation decisions like how to route container trucks
in the yard; where to store each arriving container, etc. In the seminar, the
operations and decisions of container terminal will be
discussed based on a project for Hong Kong International Terminal (HIT).
