Short Profile
Dr. Megan Kelley is currently teaching at Bilkent University. She received her Ph.D. in American History from York University in 2006, with a thesis entitled "Passing Anxieties: Identity, Authenticity and Performance in Hollywood Films, 1947-1960. Her doctoral work specialized in twentieth-century American History. Her MA thesis at the University of Nebraska, "Crossing Borders: Women's Images and Realities in Canada and the United State in the 1920s", focused on representations of women in Canada and the United States during the 1920s. She has taught courses on American cultural history for the University of Toronto and the University of Calgary. In her research, she integrates themes of race, class, sexuality and gender identities into a cohesive field for historical and theoretical study to map alterity and identity in American popular culture.
