You just opened the first page of the first issue of the Bilkent University, Department of Archaeology and History of Art’s Newsletter.

The department was in 2001 trying to find a way to promote itself to the outer world and if one does not want to do that entirely on the Internet then the most fruitful way is a ‘Newsletter’.

The collection of articles from only 8 staff members is not as easy a job as one might expect and although this first Newsletter is 6 months overdue, a few major projects are still absent. So, in this first number some aspects of our work in the department are missing…..unfortunately so ….but seen more positively: here it is….. No. 1 !
