SAD Underwater days
April 27-28
"SAD Sualtı Günleri” (Underwater Days), a
popular two-day conference that aimed at informing the public,
about a subject chosen by our Academic Board, through
presentations given by invited speakers. The topic selected for
SAD Sualtı Günleri 2002 was Underwater Archaeology.
The conference was held on April, 27-28 at the performance hall
of BUPS, the high school of Bilkent University, Ankara with the
aid of the Turkish Institute of Nautical Archaeology (TINA) and
Bilkent University Archaeology and History of Art Department.
The organization was in hands of Enver Arcak and Ozan Çelik,
both students at Bilkent.
The conference concentrated on the research presently done in
Turkey, active organizations, their projects and prospects,
concluding a panel that discussed the future with perspectives,
foreseeable problems, and suggested solutions.
The first of a new yearly "Academic Board Awards Ceremony" of
SAD took place in the evening of Saturday April 27, when after a
cocktail, this student scholarship was presented, in memory of
Erkut Arcak, a promising young underwater archaeologist whom we
lost in 2001.
