İlknur Özgen, Department chair from 1988-2000, received her Ph.D in Classical Archaeology from Bryn Mawr College in 1982. Her teaching and research areas cover the art and archaeology of Anatolia, the Ancient Near East, the Aegean, and Greece. With fieldwork experience at many sites in Turkey, she now directs the Hacimusalar excavations. Co-author of Heritage Recovered: The Lydian Treasure (Istanbul, 1996), she is currently preparing a book on the Archaeology of Anatolia from the Neolithic to the Iron Age.
