Jacques Morin joined the Bilkent
Faculty in 1995 after receiving his Ph.D. from the Classics Department of McGill
University in 1991. His areas of expertise include Greek and Roman art and
archaeology, the classical archaeology of the Black Sea area, Aegean prehistory,
and archaeological method and theory. He compiled the map of Central Greece for
the Barrington Atlas of the Greek and Roman World (Princeton, 2000). He
has worked on excavations and surveys in Boeotia (Greece). More recent research
has centered on the acculturation of local populations on the margins of the
Greek colonial area, notably in Georgia, where he co-directed excavations at
Atskouri. He was a principal organizer for the Second International Congress on
Black Sea Antiquities, held at Bilkent in September 2001.
