Can I submit extra tasks to improve my final grade?
There is no such system in operation in the unit. At the
beginning of each semester your course teacher will explain the
particular assessment procedures for your course. As part of your
course work your teacher will assign both assessed and un-assessed
tasks which you should take every care to complete in the way requested
by your teacher.
What can I do to improve my general level of English?
FAE:VTS/FMPA courses aim to help you develop your English in an
academic context. You should discuss your particular language
development with your course teacher. You will also need to
develop your learning skills in order to make the best use of what is available in these courses.
What are the aims of FAE:VTS/FMPA courses?
All Faculty Academic Courses (FAE) aim to provide academic English
support to students in their faculties and schools. This
will involve achieving a high standard in writing, reading, and
speaking as well as helping you to develop a style of thinking relevant
to university study. You should expect to be active in the
classroom and beyond it. You will need to collect, synthesise and
evaluate information from relevant sources as part of guided
research. You will receive individual tutorial support and
extensive feedback on all work that you produce in FAE:VTS/FMPA courses.

Why can't I view files in "pdf format"?
"pdf" files are a common standard format that require you have Adobe Acrobat Reader
installed on your computer. If you are working on your own
personal computer, use this link
to download and install the free software. If you are
working on a public machine ask the Network Administrator staff to
solve this problem for you.
How can
I access Bilkent only network resources (such as Online Databases with
an ADSL connection or a campus-wide Wireless Hotspot)?
Certain resources on the Bilkent Network are restricted. In
order to obtain access to them you will need to obtain a Virtual
Private Network (VPN) login. This will help you if you are connecting
from a non-Bilkent connection (such as an ADSL connection) or you wish
to use a campus Wireless Hotspot. Follow the instructions given by the Computer Center. Please note that the Online Databases at Bilkent Library have such a restriction.
