EFL/EAP Positions for Local English Language Instructors (PREP)

BİLKENT UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Bilkent University School of English Language (BUSEL) has three main areas of activity: providing a Preparatory Program to enable students to meet the English language requirements for study in the different faculties and schools of Bilkent University; providing credit bearing courses in English for Academic Purposes to the same faculties and schools (Faculty Academic English Program); and, offering an associate degree in English and Translation Studies.

The BUSEL Preparatory Program

As English is the medium of instruction at Bilkent University students are required to have a good command of English before entering the freshman programs. The BUSEL Preparatory Program aims to equip students with the necessary English language and study skills for successful entry to and study in their chosen faculties and schools. This means that there is an emphasis on English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in the Preparatory Program as a whole, which recognizes that students need more than linguistic input in order to be successful in their studies. Students are required to develop the ability to analyze texts and information sources, as well as critical thinking skills and awareness of their own learning styles and preferences.

The program is intensive and demanding but a team of highly qualified teaching staff ensures that students reach the required standards within the shortest time possible. Many students come to the program with little knowledge of English but at the end of a year of intensive study are able to pass the benchmark examination (COPE).

EFL/EAP Positions for Qualified Local Language Instructors

The BUSEL Preparatory Program invites applications from motivated and hardworking local language instructors who have a strong sense of responsibility and are willing to work in a professional environment. Teaching consists of up to 20 contact hours per week and includes language and skills development, and EAP.
