| EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Dr. Togan, born on 21 st of December, 1943 in Istanbul, graduated from the
Department of Economics at Middle East Technical University in Ankara,
Turkey, in 1967. Thereafter he went to Johns Hopkins University in
Baltimore, U.S.A. on a Fulbright fellowship, and received his Ph.D. degree
in Economics from the same University in 1972. He has served as an
assistant professor of economics at Texas A&M University, Middle East
Technical University in Ankara, and at Clarkson University in New-York,
U.S.A. During the period 1981-1982 he was a research fellow at Kiel
Institute of World Economics at the University of Kiel in Germany. He
became Professor of Economics in 1986. He has been the Dean of the Faculty
of Economics, Social and Administrative Sciences at Bilkent University
during 1987-1997. He is professor of economics and Director of the "Centre
for International Economics" at Bilkent University.
