“Great way to integrate economics and finance”

This Dual Masters program gave me the opportunity to integrate economics and finance. The first year of the program focuses on rigorous mathematics and statistics courses that support the subsequent year at Tilburg University , where I specialized in Quantitative Finance and Actuarial Science. Overall, the program is quite flexible and Tilburg University offers a wide variety of elective courses. This meant I could enjoy an excellent education combined with a first-hand experience of the Dutch culture. I am in Turkey now, working as an analyst in the treasury and fund management department of a private company.  My international experiences in the Dual Masters program have truly enriched my professional career – without a doubt!

After spending two years as a part-time student in Bilkent’s challenging study environment, I can confidently say that without this program, I would not be able to decide on a meaningful and satisfactory career path. Therefore I am thankful to my professors for instigating my academic curiosity and helping me in delving into the fascinating realm of economics. I am looking forward to building upon this foundation by entering the specialized part of the Dual Masters program:  Tilburg University 's International Economics and Finance masters program.  Hopefully this will give me a solid academic background for my further PhD education.

I have gained enormous experience and knowledge from this Dual Masters program. The first year in Bilkent gave me a strong theoretical background in Economics, which thoroughly prepared me for the second phase of the program: the MSc in International Economics and Finance in Tilburg University . Many of the applied courses were taught by instructors from various organizations and companies, such as the OECD and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. This improved my abilities in doing research and empirical analysis, but also opened the doors of multinational companies and organizations. I am currently combining my internship at PricewaterhouseCoopers with writing my Masters thesis. I recommend this program to everyone who wants to combine an in-depth theoretical knowledge in economics with practical experience and who wants to spend time in a totally international environment and get to know people from all over the world.

When I heard of the program for the first time, I did not hesitate even one moment to apply.  I knew that having two Master degrees from two distinct top universities would distinguish me from others in terms of vision, knowledge and experience. At Bilkent I studied with the best students of Turkey coming from different disciplines and at Tilburg I studied with the best students from Europe . I even managed to find an internship in The Netherlands, at the Economics, Valuation and Strategy Department of PricewaterhouseCoopers Amsterdam branch – an invaluable experience! In short, the Dual Masters program contributed tremendously to my academic background. I strongly suggest this program to students who are achievement-oriented and looking for challenges.  The next step in my academic career is the Master of Philosophy program in Economics at Tilburg University , which is a pre-condition for the PhD program.
