Assessment

Students are assessed in a variety of ways in the high school.  Midterm and final exams, homework, quizzes, self-assessments, daily grades, teacher-student conferences, projects and portfolios are all part of the students' overall grade.  Projects range from dramatic presentations to written projects to art projects.  Portfolios include written and oral work that the student collects over each semester.  Although each teacher approaches each element slightly differently, the breakdown is as follows:

Make-up and Late Work Policy

v     Make-up work will be assigned in the event of an illness or other EXCUSED absence.

v     It is the student’s responsibility to arrange for make-up and alternative late work assignments.

v     If a student does not turn in a daily assignment, he or she has the opportunity to finish an alternative assignment for credit. If he or she does not hand in the assignment by the next class day, he or she will be penalized by 50%. If the assignment is not completed by the third class day, it is not accepted and a zero will be entered into the grade book.

v     Essays, presentations, and projects (work assigned at least 2 days in advance) will be penalized 10% PER DAY (not class day).
