Midterms and Final

All students should comply with the Honor Code. They will be asked to sign the Code on the cover sheet of the exam questions for their exams to be graded: “I pledge, on my Honor, not to lie, cheat, or steal in either my academic or personal life. I understand that such acts violate the Honor Code and undermine the community of trust of which we are all stewards.”

 

No calculators allowed. Useful formulae will be provided on the exam cover sheet.

The exams will be common and will be administered to all students at the same time. Four questions per midterm exams, and six for the final.

 

1) MT1 will take place on October 17, 2009 SATURDAY during 10:00-12:00. MT1 will cover Chapter 1-5.

 

2) MT2 will take place on November 21, 2009 SATURDAY during 10:00-12:00. MT2 will cover Chapter 6-10.

 

3) Final exam will cover Ch. 1-13 (Ch. 12 is excluded)

Homeworks :

Homeworks will be assigned on a weekly basis on this web page (depending on the instructor's calendar, this date may change) and will be due in one week. Procedures regarding homework groups, preparation of homeworks are all explained in Policies and Procedures. Each homework will be listed on this web-page.

 

You have to put a cover page to each HW, and then STAPLE the HW and the cover page (with the cover page on top). Otherwise, you will loose 20 points. Make sure that your HW is copy-free and you obey the honor code during the preparation of the HW.

Laboratory: Labs will start on September 28 2008. Lab groups will be announced on the web page listed below. Here are the lab rules. Check the following web page for all the information (for any questions send an e-mail to physlab@fen.bilkent.edu.tr)

Freshman Physics Labs

1) PHYS 101, 102, 107 & 111 labs will start on September 28, Monday for all sections.

2) Please check your schedule before you come to the labs.

3) Lab manual can be purchased from Physics Department Secretary

Attendance:

Notice that any attendance less than 75% will mean an F from this course. Full attendance is expected from the students (except for cases where you have a medical excuse). Attendance above 95% will be rewarded by bonus points added to the overall score. So make sure to come to all of the courses.
