AIM OF THE PROJECT

Rapidly increasing world population results in a considerable increase in the consumption of scarce resources. This threat, on the coming generations, makes the societies consider the feasible ways to make use of wastes in terms of energy, money and time. The concept of recycling of wastes as alternative resources is important not only because of its economical benefits but also for the sake of our world's health. Highly developed countries consider this fact in a sensitive manner. Turkey, as a currently developing country, should consider the process of recycling seriously. Being candidates of engineers we thought to handle this problem, beginning from the closest territory, Bilkent University's Main Campus. The main purpose is to establish a recycling system which includes recycling of papers, plastics, and cans in the area of dormitories, library, some cafeterias around the campus. We believe that this establishment will bring lots of benefits not only to environment but also to social sensitivity of students.

At the first stage of the project, our focus is on paper. The reason behind this is the fact that paper is widely used in Bilkent Area. Don't forget that every recycled piece of paper saves a tree somewhere around the world.
