SCHOOL OF APPLIED LANGUAGES

Tanju İnal, Professor, Director

The School of Applied Languages - the first of its kind in Turkey - offers four-year degree programs in Banking and Finance, Accounting Information Systems, and Translation and Interpretation.

The Banking & Finance and Accounting degree programs offer the opportunity to study financial studies in a combination of two languages (English and French). The aim is to give a firm background in financial markets and organizations and to develop advanced communication skills in English and French, which are appropriate in international business, banking and accounting.

The Translation and Interpretation degree offers the opportunity to study translation in four facets -- Turkish to English, Turkish to French, English to Turkish, and English to French. Students will also be introduced to direct translation to and from English and French.

Entry to all three degree programs requires proficiency in both oral and written English and French. As with all Bilkent students, those who require more proficiency in English attend the intensive English language program at Bilkent University School of English Language (BUSEL). Students who need more language work in French in order to attain the required level follow an intensive language study program at the French Preparatory School.
