THE DESIGN CHALLENGE
International Design Competition
In 1999 the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc. announced an international design competition for a memorial to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Washington, D.C.

Sited on the Mall of the Capital City of the United States, the Memorial is inspired by three major themes -  the Man, the Movement, the Message. Collectively, these three themes provide guidance and illumination for the international design community.
