Course Description:
A continuation from 'Image, Time and Motion I'. The course
is an extended attempt to think about popular developments
of time-based media in digital environments. The focus is
on the critical discourse created through the works of digital
artisans, net.artists and cyper entrepreneurs as well as
the theoretical and analytical localization of current trends.
Course format:
In general the class will be based on discussions, lectures, presentations,
screenings of films, CD-ROMs, Web sites and other new media objects (also
including software applications).
Course Assignments:
1. A short essay not less than 2,000 words.
2. The paper can be linked with a new media object (Hypertext or Hypermedia),
which will be presented at the end of the course.
3. Each student will create a new media project, which will
be realized in the lab part of the course and exhibited
at the end. The project might also be an individual part
of another project.
4. Students are expected to spend regular time online to get familiar with
ongoing discussions, debates and artistic practice on the net.
5. Students are also expected to participate active in class discussions and
activities.
