Two professors from Bilkent University have been recognized by The Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) for 2010. Assoc. Prof. Bahar Yetiş Kara from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Asst. Prof. Selin Sayek Böke from the Department of Economics are the recipients of the TÜBİTAK Incentive Awards.

Bahar Yetiş Kara received her PhD from Bilkent in 1999. She won the UPS-SOLA "Best Dissertation Award" in 2001. She worked at McGill niversity as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow for two years before joining Bilkent University. She received TÜBA GEBİP award at 2008. She was also awarded the IAP (Inter Academy Panel) 2009 award for young scientists. Her research interests include distribution logistics, humanitarian logistics, healthcare logistics, hub location problems, hazardous materials transportation logistics, and mathematical programming. She has published in these areas.
Selin Sayek Böke received her PhD from Duke University in 1999. She worked at Bentley College as an Assistant Professor for two years before joining the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as an Economist for two years, during which she also taught at Georgetown University Public Policy Institute. She joined the Department of Economics at Bilkent University in 2003. In 2006 she was awarded the “Excellence Award in Global Economic Affairs,” granted by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy for her work on the effects of foreign direct investment (FDI) on the FDI recipient economy. Her research interests are in the area of international economics, especially the growth, productivity and labor market effects of foreign direct investment. She has published both theoretical and empirical work in these areas.
