This page provides some links to online bibliographical and archival resources for historians. Given my own research interests, it will inevitably have a somewhat medieval and British bias, but will hopefully be useful to other types of historian too. Apologies in advance for any dead links!

  • LibDex: Provides access to worldwide library catalogues on the WWW.

 

 

 

  • GABRIEL: Gateway to European National Libraries.

 

 

  • COPAC: Searches numerous university-library catalogues in the UK and Ireland.

 

 

 

 

 

  • Newton: Cambridge University Library Catalogue.

Bilkent lists of online journals:

 

 

These pages provide links to the following:

 

  • EBSCOhost: Citations and full texts for over 3600 academic journals, including history (choose Academic Search Premier).

 

 

  • INGENTA: Searchable tables of contents to 17,599,699 articles in 28,961 journals, from late 1980s onwards.

 

  • JSTOR: Searchable and printable scanned ‘facsimile’ versions of articles from over 100 major journals, including history.

 

  • Kluwer Online: Covers 750 ‘Kluwer journals’, including ‘history’ under the ‘humanities’ category; but soon (if not already?) to be merged with and moved to SpringerLink.

 

 

  • PCI Full Text: Access to over 300 journals in the humanities and social sciences.

 

  • WWW-Vitrual Library: The History Journals Guide: includes links to journal homepages plus full texts of about 1500 e-articles.

 

  • Thomson ISI (Web of Knowledge): Search for journals by subject (select history): links to journal homepages.
