Travel Information

  • Arrival Information

We would like to inform you that there will be several buses\minibuses
meeting the participants and their accompanying persons at
Ankara Esenboga Airport.

These buses  will depart from the airport to Bilkent University
at the following times

June 6, 2009:   01:30, 13:00, 15:30, 20:00, 23:45;
June 7, 2009:   9:30, 13:00, 16:30, 18:30, 20:30, 23:45;
June 8, 2009:   00:30.

Two persons from Bilkent University will wait for CMFT 2009 participants
in the Arrival Terminals (Domestic and International Terminals).

Important Note:  Minibus or bus will be sent to the airport according to
the number of participants who sent their travel information.

Those who will stay in Bilkent Hotel or Midas Hotel will be delivered from
the airport directly to their hotels. These participants are asked to
register at the conference office on Sunday or Monday.

Those who will stay in Bilkent University Dormitory, from the airport
first will be brought to CMFT 2009 Conference Office, go through the
registration procedure,  and then walk (with some of Bilkent Univesity
graduate students) to Bilkent University Dormitory (about 10 minutes).

The openning ceremony will be on Monday, June 8, 2009,  from 9:00 to 9:30.
On Monday morning, the buses will depart from

Midas Hotel (at 8:00),
Bilkent Hotel (at 8:30),
Bilkent University Dormitory (at 8:30)

and carry CMFT 2009 participants to Bilkent University Concert Hall, where
the opening ceremony will take place.

Getting to Ankara

Direct flights to Ankara International Airport are available from many cities in Europe. In addition, the major airlines including Turkish Airlines have international flights landing at Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport. Domestic airlines provide the connection to Ankara.

Currency Exchange

Credit/bank cards may be used at ATMs at the airport or in the city to get Turkish Liras (TL). The international arrivals area has currency exchange offices and bank branches. The best exchange rates are in the banks and currency exchange offices at the city centre.

Airport/Transportation

The new Ankara Esenboga Airport terminal complex is 33 km (21 miles, about 40 minutes in normal traffic) Northeast of the city center, reached by inexpensive (6USD) airport shuttle bus (Havas) to/from the ASTI bus terminal. From the last shuttle bus stop in downtown Ankara (The first main stop is near the Gar train station, and the last one is at the intercity bus station, ASTI), one can take a metered taxi to the Bilkent campus.

Several buses will be arranged to meet CMFT 2009 participants at the Esenboga Airport. The detailed bus schedule will appear at the web-page of the CMFT 2009 conference soon.
