1. Who can apply? The program welcomes both practising and aspiring English language educators who wish to develop expertise for professional and academic settings in which English is taught as a foreign, second, professional, or academic language.

3. Is prior teaching experience required?
Prior teaching experience is desirable but not mandatory.


4. What are the admission requirements? Admission requirements are detailed on the Admissions page. An application is considered complete only when both the online form and all required documents have been submitted.

5. Is the program full-time or part-time? The program supports both full-time and part-time study. Full-time students typically complete the credit-bearing coursework and Thesis Seminar in two to three semesters. Part-time students generally complete the coursework, including Thesis Seminar, in three to four semesters.

6. How rigorous is the MA in TEFL Program? The program is a rigorous thesis-based graduate program. Students should expect sustained reading, academic writing, research engagement, revision and independent thesis work, supported by close advising and a structured thesis pathway.

7. Is financial assistance provided?
  • Financial support may be available in the form of a tuition waiver, subject to institutional policies and approval.
8. What does the selection process involve?
The selection process includes an initial eligibility screening and a review of application materials. The alignment between an applicant's academic interests and available faculty expertise may also be taken into account. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to an informal academic conversation. Admission decisions are finalized after departmental review and university approval.


9. Is there an interview or written exam?
An interview or written examination is not not normally required. However, shortlisted applicants may be invited to an informal academic conversation as part of the review process.

10. How are applicants informed of the result? Applicants are notified by email regarding the outcome of their application.

11. Are late applications accepted?
Applications should be submitted by the stated deadline. Applicants who miss a deadline are encouraged to check the website for future application cycles, if available.

12. When are the classes held?
To accommodate working teachers, most courses are scheduled after 4.30 p.m.


13. Are courses offered in the summer term?
The MA in TEFL Program does not typically offer summer courses. However, some non-departmental elective courses may be available during the summer term.
