Project 6: Using Subject Qualities

Project Requirements:

35mm Camera with a standard lens, a tripod. One roll (36 exp.) of a Medium speed (FP-4 Ilford) B&W Negative film. Make one 36x36cm (with 9x12cm) and at least 3 good 18x24cm or 20x30cm B&W prints on a multi-grade paper and do not forget to make sheet of contacts.


Choose an interesting subject and take the following pictures:

1. Using the lighting (contrast) to bring out
pattern Make this, full frame subject of the
photograph.

2. Take another photograph, which is going to
be your main pattern, make 12 prints
(9cmx12cm each) of it. Paste them on
cardboard as shown below so that you
obtain a whole repetition.

4. Of a textured surface, close-up using the lighting quality and direction to enhance the
surface quality. Try to make:

a) artificial texture
b) natural texture
